The Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, with its new house this year on campus will be dedicating its house this Saturday morning. This new house and its plans started back in 2007 with the fundraising led by the Phi Gamma Delta Alumni Association. Construction on the new FIJI house began in late May of 2009 and 14 months later finished days before the beginning of the fall semester.
The new house is listed at 29,000 square feet. It has 36 bedrooms for members, three living rooms, three study halls, three laundry rooms, one dining hall, and one kitchen. Also in the house, there is Internet, a media room, automated doors, and a security system.
Robbie Leach, a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity gave his thoughts on the dedication. "I think it shows how strong our alumni base is and how strong our Greek system is a OU."
Another member of the fraternity, Kyle Gist said, "The dedication helps the community".
This is the third time the fraternity has built a house since the 1920's. The cost of the house is approximately $6 million.
